We are very excited to have ultrasound capabilities at Elgin Veterinary Hospital. Having a three-probe, state-of-the art ultrasound machine, allows us to offer better point of care medicine for our patients in a variety of situations. Ultrasound allows us to have another way to image or view the body in addition to the two-dimensional images from our digital radiographs/x-rays and can give us life-saving, immediate information in the event of a traumatic injury/event (fall, fight, etc.). Ultrasound can be used in a multitude of ways, from viewing the urinary system to allowing us to biopsy a mass more safely and accurately to helping determine to correct treatment for muscular injuries. Ultrasound offers a three dimensional image of what is occurring at that exact time with a patient’s body so that we can better care for our family members in a variety of situations.
